Dear Fellow Lions,
I would like to thank you for coming out to the 1st Cabinet Meeting which was followed by the Banner Passing Ceremony.
Speaking of changing, the Club Officer Training and Zone Chairperson Training will be held in a different manner as well. The presenters involved with doing the trainings will be meeting and recording their specific topics and then the videos will be placed on the District Website for all to view. This way, everyone is kept safe and they can view the trainings at any time. Also, the USA Canada Forum will be held in a virtual format this year due to the pandemic. Please see the link in the newsletter for additional information on the sessions and registration. The information is also on the District Website. This is a great opportunity for anyone to take part especially since there is no travelling involved!
I would like to encourage and recognize the clubs that meeting as they are taking advantage of the warn weather and holding meetings outdoors, having picnics, or they are lucky and have a local restaurant that is able to accommodate their needs. With proper precautions, meetings and service can still be provided. If your club does not feel safe holding meetings in this fashion, there is always the option to hold a Zoom meeting. If you are interested in setting up a zoom meeting, please let me know as the District does have a Zoom account & we can assist with this need. Or you can utilize phone meetings, emails or text messages.
As for upcoming events, please be sure to let me know what you club is planning. Send me a flyer so it can be added to the District Facebook page, the District Newsletter & the District Website for advertisement!! Try something new…what can it hurt?
The District will be trying something new this year as well. We will be having a Halloween Party. We need to have some fun and socialization to take our minds off the pandemic and being cooped up for the last several months. Details will be forthcoming, but mark your calendars for Sunday afternoon, October 25th at Alwine Civic Center. There will be games, and prizes for those who want to come in costume!! If you do not want to dress up, I hope you still attend just to relax and talk to others for a bit.
I have started my Club visitations. So far all are going very well. I have a few that have requested to reschedule after the first of the year, so I will be reaching out to them at that time. For those listed on the calendar, you will be contacted prior to the visit to confirm the date, time and place is still good. Just a hint, I know finding a restaurant for a meeting place can be difficult, but I do not mind outdoor events!! If your club is not meeting, please be sure to pick up your phone and reach out to other club members to see if they are in need.
Until we meet again, please stay safe, and if you need anything, please feel free to reach out to me.
Thank you for all you do to serve your communities.
Yours in Service,
