Dear Fellow Lions:
Our new Lion Year is off to a good start. District Governor David DeFazio was installed in Milan, Italy, along with other District Governors, and our new International President, Dr. Jung-Yul Choi, of the Republic of Korea. We are pleased and proud to have them as our leaders.
We encourage all Lions to attend the District’s annual “Passing of the Banner” on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at Giannilli’s on Route 30. We can wish DG Dave good luck during his term and thank PDG Charlie for his hard work and service.
Beacon Lodge held its annual Appreciation Day in July. As usual, the chicken barbeque was delicious, and the talent show great, however, I didn’t win the Duck Race, 50/50, or a basket, but had a great time anyway. This is a great camp for the visually impaired and physically challenged, and, if you haven’t visited there please put it on your “Bucket List”. Just a reminder that, if you have items you have collected for the Beacon Lodge wish list, just call me, and I will pick them up and get them there.
I am sure you are all in the process of scheduling your fund-raising activities for the coming year. Please make sure your local news outlets cover these events and that our District Newsletter editor also knows of your events. We encourage all Lions to attend each others club’s activities.
The first District Cabinet Meeting will be on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at the Westmoreland County Blind Association, Greensburg, Pennsylvania. All Lions are invited to attend. I am looking forward to this new Lions year as your 2VDG and visiting your clubs, renewing friendships, and making new ones. If I can assist your club in any way, please call or email me (724) 325-4133 or email@example.com
Yours in Service,
2nd Vice District Governor
