1VDG Message - May 2020

Dear Fellow Lions,

I am thinking about all of you throughout this pandemic. I hope you are all staying safe and well. We as Lions will get through this terrible situation. Again, be smart, be safe and I will see you all soon!

As this Lion's year is ending and a new one will soon be starting, please remember to submit your club's PU101 reports-- as they are due by May 15th, and also remember to submit your Club's District Donations (if you have not yet done so). The PU101's are important as I need the information from this report to complete the District Directory so it can be sent for printing so it is ready for distribution to the cabinet & club officers. The District Donations are due in so the District Governor can ensure the District's donations are sent and received in a timely manner.

The District is still in need of Zone Chairs. If you have served as Club President in the past and are interested in moving up to the next level in Lionism, please reach out to me as soon as possible.

I know that things are tough right now, but as Lions, we can and will prevail. Even though there are restrictions on gathering which restrict how we are used to normally serving, there are other ways to serve our communities and those in need. For example, we can donate to other programs like backpack programs for school students, Meals on Wheels, or the Food Bank. Another way to serve is by making outreach calls to club members to ensure their health and safety. For those unable to leave their homes, just the sound of a familiar voice can bring great relief to an individual.

As always, please be safe until we are able to see each other again, and if you are in need of help, please do not hesitate to reach out because....Where there is a need...there is always a Lion waiting to Serve!!

Yours in Kindness,

1VDG Chuck Thompkins
