Dear Fellow Lions,
I hope you are all doing well. I am hoping that we can all soon be together to share stories of how we have continued to serve as Lions during the pandemic we are experiencing.
I think we can all use this as a learning tool to look at the new opportunities that have arose for us during this time. Meetings by phone, texting, emails, phone conferences & zoom meetings. I never thought that such types of meetings could be beneficial. WOW!! I was wrong! I have received so much information and learning from all of this and did not use a drop of gas...haha . All kidding aside, I feel with the technology we have in front of us for meetings and education, and how the times are changing, we are going to be successful in facing the challenges we face. Just a thought--change might not be so bad after all--as it can open doors and windows for new and innovative ways to serve as Lions.
I am looking forward to seeing you all this year during my District Governor Club visits. I know that things are unstable, but we will get through this together. I have begun to reach out to the clubs to schedule club visit dates, so if I have not contacted you yet, I will be. If I have contacted you and you have not responded yet, please do so as soon as possible. Please remember, if we have scheduled a time and it needs to be rescheduled due to COVID restrictions, I understand and will gladly reschedule.
The District is still looking for at least two Zone Chairs. Don't be shy...this is a great way to learn and grow, not only as a lion, but also in your personal and professional life as well. There are many doors waiting to be opened for new opportunities...you just need to be willing to step up and open them. If you are interested, please let me know.
If you have not done so yet, please submit your PU101's. I need the information so I can complete my Directory for the upcoming year. If you need assistance with completing this task, please reach out to your current Zone Chair, PDG Lance Remic or Lion Denise Poole.
The District is also excited to be taking part in a new program called NAMI (North American Membership Initiative) which will be headed by our own PID Cindy Gregg. PDG Charlie McGrew has stepped up to be ours District's NAMI Champion. We also need volunteers from all the clubs to assist with making our efforts to grow new clubs, grow membership and rejuvenate current clubs and membership. This new effort has been proven as a success in other areas and will definitely strengthen our clubs and membership. If you are interested, please reach out to myself or PDG Charlie.
Lastly, I would like to thank all of the Lions in the District for entrusting me to be your District Governor for the 2020- 2021 Lions year. I appreciate all that took time out of their busy schedules to take part in the online voting process that was held in May. I am looking forward to serving...not above you, not beneath you, but with you!!
Yours in Service,
