1VDG Message - July 2019

Dear Fellow Lions,

I want to wish you all a safe & Happy 4th of July! I would like to thank all of you Lions for a good year. Please continue on with our motto of "We Serve". With the warmer weather here, it is a calling card for us. Let's get out into our communities and get noticed. Do a Road clean up, flower planting, participate in your town's Community Days celebrations, or work on a activity with another Lion's Club. Remember to wear your Lions shirt so everyone can see who we are! Some food for thought--has your club considered having a service project as a part of your membership open house? Completing service projects is a very good way to get folks interested in joining our organization. Organize a project & then advertise it in the community.

Also just a reminder to all club secretaries...please submit your club's MMR report at the following website: You also need to report all of your club activities to the new My Lion reporting system. For assistance, please feel free to reach out to me and I will get you the help you need. We want to be sure your club is getting the recognition for the service you are providing.

I would also like to take a moment to thank PDG Charlie McGrew for a great year. Congratulations on a job well done and thanks for all the fun during the past year. With that being said, I would also like to wish DG Dave DeFazio good luck in his upcoming year as our District Governor.

As for me, I am looking forward to serving you as your 1VDG this year. I will do my best to visit your club and or participate with your club's activities. If you need or want extra help, please email me at or call me at 724-989-8250 and if I am available I will be more than happy to lend a hand. Remember... Where there is a need, there is a Lion!

Yours in Service,

1VDG Chuck Thompkins
