Reflections:  As we start the new year, we reflect on the past year and what happened good or bad. The new year also gives us a new beginning to change the bad and make the year a better one than the last. Don’t be afraid to try something different and if it doesn’t work, then you can say “At least I tried.” Lions are also changing for the better.Diabetes is the new service initiative that started in July. Did you know that 23.1 million people are diagnosed and 7.3 million are undiagnosed with this disease? The most staggering fact is the 84.1 million adults 18 years and older have prediabetes. That is over 33 % of the population. This disease affects everyone not just adults.

The McKeesport Diabetes Foundation provides some needed assistance to diabetics. Westmoreland county residents, who qualify, can apply and get help they need. Prediabetes is the change in we can make a big impact on. If we can educate and inform people maybe, they can change their life and reflect on the day in which they changed their life.

I want to personal thank the Valley Run Lioness club for all the hard work and dedication they have provided to our district.

Yours in Lionism,
