Hello fellow Lions! I am proud to be serving as your District 14-E Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) Chairperson this year. I am very excited to share with you all of the goings-on at LCIF. Please let me know if your club would be interested in hearing a presentation on LCIF, and we can find a date that works.
As we start a new Lions year, I challenge each of your clubs to come up with some ideas to increase your donations to LCIF over the year. Perhaps you can advertise that the proceeds from one of your existing fundraisers will directly benefit a specific LCIF project, such as the Measles Initiative or the Special Olympics Opening Eyes Program.
Because I believe in putting my money where my mouth is, I myself have set up the collection jug seen here in my office as a way to remind me to set aside whatever I can to go toward this worthwhile (and tax-deductible) charity. Once my jug fills up, I plan on giving it to my club as an earmarked donation, which will bring our club closer to naming a Melvin Jones Fellow.
Whatever your club decides to do, I hope that you will join me in supporting LCIF in this Lions year. In the coming months, I plan on putting together a list of where each club stands in terms of contributions toward naming your own Melvin Jones Fellowship Award recipient. Let’s all take a good first step into the next 100 years of service in our great association!
Yours in Lionism,
Lion Zachary I. Mesher, Esq.
